Pace University
Pace University sought to consolidate and strengthen its Westchester undergraduate program at its existing Pleasantville campus in the Town of Mount Pleasant. Pace’s goals included the relocation of programs from its Briarcliff campus and the creation of a more sustainable and dynamic living and learning community for students. DTS assisted Pace in planning, securing approvals for, and constructing the first phase of a comprehensive set of building, site and infrastructure improvements on the 200-acre site.
New facilities – including two residence halls, an expanded student center, an environmental center and an athletic complex with three new fields and a fieldhouse – are clustered around a new landscaped campus green and a restored Choate Pond. Parking lots were relocated outside the campus core in order to create space for new buildings and use areas. Utility networks were upgraded and the stormwater management system completely revamped through the integration of green infrastructure measures.
DTS coordinated the environmental review and approvals processes for both the master plan and first phase, which included a full environmental impact statement, zoning amendments, special exception use permit, site plan approval and environmental permits. The master plan includes additional buildings and sitework, including campus road and pathway improvements to facilitate connectivity and promote walkability.
Our integrated, strategic approach to project planning and implementation balances the concerns of the land owner, the community, and the environment with the specific characteristics of the site, enabling us to create intelligent land use solutions.
