Life Time Fitness opened its second facility in New York in February 2014 on the site of the former Gannett newspaper offices and plant in Harrison, New York. The 206,000 square foot sports and fitness center features state-of-the-art cardiovascular machines, group fitness studios, indoor and outdoor pools, two full-sized basketball courts, a rock-climbing wall, 10 indoor tennis courts and a full-service day spa. The Life Time Kids Academy provides activities focused on mind, body, fitness and life skills for children while their parents are similarly engaged.

DTS provided initial planning and engineering services for LTF during the due diligence stage of its property acquisition and subsequently to achieve the required zoning amendments to permit the recreation facility use. We then worked closely with the Life Time development team to prepare site engineering and landscape architectural documentation to meet the company’s objectives for the site and to process the site plan application with the Town Planning Board to achieve the necessary approvals within a tight timeframe. Stormwater management measures for the site included pervious pavements in parking bays, dry swales within landscaped islands and bioretention areas planted with native materials.
