DTS Staff Plans and Plants White Plains Hospital Garden

In celebration of Earth Month, DTS Provident contributed both the design plans and the planting muscle for a new arrival garden at the Davis Avenue entrance to White Plains Hospital.  The plan, prepared by DTS Provident Associate Donna Maiello, ASLA, and landscape designer Samantha Kepke, utilizes a mix of flowering trees, deciduous and evergreen shrubs, perennials, annuals, and evergreen ground cover to create a multi-season garden, which gives the primary Hospital entry visual interest and color all year round.  Also visible from the main lobby, the plantings provide a splash of color, especially during the spring and summer, to bring a little of the outside in.  Early one May morning, the entire DTS Provident staff donned jeans, t-shirts and work gloves to layout and install over 150 shrubs, 100 perennials, countless groundcover plants and annuals, and 12 yards of mulch.  Eight hours later, the arrival garden makeover was complete, as evidenced by one hospital visitor stopping to take a picture of his wife standing in the middle of the newly planted shrub bed!  See the plan, before-and-after photos, and the planting crew hard at work below.
